Credit Life Insurance
Optional, low-cost Credit Life Insurance is available on all GECU loans except Mortgage Loan products. This coverage insures loans up to $75,000 with repayment terms of 240 months or less. In the event of your death, your loan will be marked "paid in full," relieving your family or co-signer of your debt.
Credit Life Insurance is available to members who meet the "working member" requirement. Single and joint coverage is available. You may purchase this insurance at the time you originally borrow the money or you may add it at a later date. Premiums are calculated based on the outstanding loan balance each month and then added to the loan.
Benefits are applied directly to the insured loan balance(s) and finance charges stop accruing on the member's date of death. Maximum age limit is 70.
Credit Disability Insurance
In addition, low-cost Credit Disability Insurance is also available for the primary member applying for the loan. The maximum coverage is $75,000 per loan. The maximum disability payment per loan is $1,100 per month, up to 120 months.
This optional protection is available if you are working for wages or profit at least 25 hours a week. Benefits begin on the 15th day of disability and continue until you return to work, the maximum term of 120 months has expired, or your loan is paid in full. The low monthly premium is calculated based on the outstanding loan balance each month and then added to the loan. Maximum age limit is 66.
